One of the thirty species in Texas is the Green Winged Cicada. They are known either by male cicadas singing for their mates, the empty exuvia (shells), or adult bodies that are flying or found on the ground.

Science Activities – Part 1
- Life Cycle: Firstly, there are Cut and Paste Activities. Use the Anchor Charts as a references for the Life Cycle order. As a result, there are two versions of worksheets.
- Anatomy: Furthermore, use the vocabulary cards and anchor charts as resources to label the body parts of the cicada. The first version is to label 7 parts of the cicada’s body. The second version is to label 11 parts of the cicada’s body.


Science Activities – Part 2
At this time, there are 30 species of Cicadas in Texas,
but what about the species in my state?
Click on the list below. Then open menu “All Insects” for Cicadas and choose “Find Cicadas in the US”.




Social Studies Activities
Map of the United States
Specifically, label the 11 states where Green Winged Cicadas are found. Further, there are Vocabulary Cards for the states’ names, abbreviations, and location. Initially, use the cards as references for this activity. After that, choose colors and trace the outline of the state and then write in the corresponding number in the states. Finally, the “Self-Check” map has the states for the Green Winged Cicada in alphabetical order.

Math Skip Counting Activities

- Four Skip Counting Reference Options of 15 or 30 cards:
- First, you can cut either the picture and number attached or picture and numbers separately . Secondly, organize the cards to represent the skip counting patterns.
- Various choices:
- A. Life Cycle: Nymph counting by 1’s
- B. Anatomy: Eyes counting by 2’s
- C. Anatomy: 3 Major Body parts counting by 3’s
- D. Anatomy: 6 Legs counting by 6s



- Four Skip Counting “Fill in the Blanks” Worksheets: add the missing numbers to complete the Skip Counting patterns of 1’s, 2’s, 3’s, and 6’s. Each Skip Counting activity is in color or grayscale and with a “Self-Check” card.

- Determine what is missing. Is it the sum or one of the addend? Then, complete the chart.
- Completing Combinations for 5, 7, 10, and 12. Here’s a way to practice a mixture of various combinations for 5, 7, 10, and 12.
